For the very first time in 4 years, Joe Nichols is launching a brand-new unabridged task. Currently with a brand-new tag house at the newly-formed Quartz Hill Records, Nichols launched his tenth workshop cd, Good Day For Living, on Friday (Feb. 11).

Nichols signing up with Quartz Hill was a homecoming of kinds, as it rejoined him with Benny Brown, that runs the tag along with Paul Brown and also acclaimed songwriter Jason Sellers Nichols and also Benny appreciated 2 success, “Yeah” and also “Sunny and also 75,” with each other while Benny went to the helm of Broken Bow Records.

” It really feels extraordinary to be back,” Nichols states. “It really feels terrific to be back when driving, it really feels terrific to be playing songs for individuals. Recording brand-new songs has actually been impressive.”

Good Day For Living consists of lead solitary, “Home Run,” created by acclaimed songwriters Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson and also Ross Copperman The song includes Nichols’ trademark baritone vocal singing concerning requiring to “strike a crowning achievement” after experiencing life’s less-than-celebratory minutes.

Nichols states that leading with “Home Run” was essential. “It has a solid tune that embeds your head, yet it additionally has an excellent message for today. Everybody is really feeling a little insane, a little lost.

” It’s been terrific dealing with Benny Brown once more. He’s constantly been a follower in me. That’s an additional factor we picked ‘Home Run,'” Nichols includes. “Benny and also I are back on a group once more, and also we’ve brought a number of individuals right into the layer. We seem like we might all make use of a crowning achievement today. We might all make use of something terrific to occur.”

In enhancement to rejoining with Benny, Nichols’ brand-new task additionally locates the nation vocalist dealing with manufacturers Mickey Jack Cones and also Derek George, for his 2013 cd Crickets consisting of the Gold-certified hits “Sunny and also 75” and also “Yeah.”

” We had a good time with each other on Crickets,” Nichols states. “Those men have such an excellent chemistry. They enhance each various other extremely well. They have a common sense of my total background of songs and also my directory. They can claim, ‘That does not seem like you. This seems like you.'”

The chemistry in between Nichols, Cones, and also George is listened to on songs such as “Brokenhearted,” a paradoxically hooky lament concerning modern-day c and w, along with the title track and also following radio solitary, “Good Day for Living.”

” We began with terrific tunes, we have terrific manufacturers, and also my work is not to screw it up,” Nichols repartees.

Now, greater than 25 years after his launching, Nichols has an all-round viewpoint on the songs sector and also exactly how it has actually altered for many years.

” Some points have actually remained the very same. There’s still a requirement to visit radio and also existing them with hits, something they can use their radio terminals and also have success with themselves. That’s still king,” Nichols states. “What’s altered, however, is you have a great deal of men and also ladies that for whatever factor do not have what radio intends to listen to or will not provide what radio intends to listen to. They’re locating success by means of all the various other opportunities, and also having terrific jobs. They’re offering a great deal of tickets, streaming a great deal of songs, and also constructing their brand names in various other methods.

” In a globe where we have hundreds of nation vocalists that wish to contend for 30 nation radio areas, [having different avenues other than radio] is an excellent point. You have numerous various other opportunities that can provide you an excellent profession.”

But Nichols does not assume all modification is excellent when it involves c and w.

” The songs has actually altered a fair bit. Also in 2002, we might see that coming. In my point of view, among c and w’s biggest presents was that it constantly had an identification of its very own. It constantly was something you might recognize out of all points,” he provides. “Along with that identification came this inability facility that we weren’t as genuine as various other categories, claim rock or pop.

” So, either by management, artists, [and/or] individuals that intended to earn money in c and w, they entered c and w and also drew it in the direction of the various other categories a little to attempt to suit,” Nichols clarifies. “[Since then] c and w has actually controlled a great deal of groups in the songs range. It’s most likely been the No. 1 layout in a great deal of methods with radio, sales, tickets, the variety of musicians, and also much more. It’s definitely been effective, what has actually taken place. Along the means, a little bit of that step-child mindset captured up with us. We’ve attempted to mold and mildew right into a great deal of various categories at once.

” That’s my tirade, I wish it does not upset individuals,” Nichols states with a laugh. “I must explain, also, I’m not innocent of this. I’m not depending on the perch going ‘Look what every one of you have actually done.’ If it depended on me and also I had no organization feeling whatsoever, I would certainly make documents that no one would certainly ever before listen to. I would certainly make a document that would certainly end up in the 99 cent container at Walmart or vehicle quits almost everywhere.”

Like numerous musicians, the nation reactionary has actually located it difficult to stroll the line in between art and also commercialism.

” The hardest point [I’ve dealt with] is exactly how do you make tranquility with not just you attractively, yet what individuals anticipate of on your own attractively? My experience has actually been that a great deal of nation followers seem like they are familiar with you, and also they anticipate a specific type of uniformity of you,” Nichols states. “There’s a whole lot of stress that comes from attempting to be as regular at feasible with that I am attractively and also that the followers anticipate me to be attractively, since I assume they’re. You need to discover an appropriate concession.”

Despite the obstacle, Nichols blends both fairly well on Good Day For Living, out today (Feb. 11).

In an exciting carousel of honors, NMPA gave out plaques to 85 multi-Platinum songwriters Wednesday night, including hitmakers such as Luke Laird, Natalie Hemby, Chris DeStefano, Dallas Davidson and many more. As each songwriter joined the stage to receive their plaque, their peers and colleagues hooped and hollered as the hit song they wrote played over the speaker.

Flanking the plaque presentations were some awesome performances, with Ian Munsick kicking off the show with his Gold-certified single “Long Live Cowgirls,” which got a big reaction. Newly-inducted Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member, Keith Urban, gave a rousing performance of his “Blue Ain’t Your Color”—and was subsequently presented with a plaque for his 18 Gold and Platinum certifications.

The event culminated with the honoring of the top male and top female songwriters of the past year. Over the eligibility period, Ashley Gorley achieved an astounding 26 certifications, making him the Top Male Songwriter of the Year.

When speaking about Gorley, NMPA President & CEO David Israelite compared his success to that of star footballer Tom Brady, sharing that as a Kansas City Chiefs fan, he used to feel that he hated Brady because of his success, but eventually realized he admired his excellence. Rightly so, he encouraged those in the room to acknowledge the privilege of working with Gorley.

“Appreciate this moment. If you got to see Tom Brady play, or if you have gotten to see Ashley Gorley write, you are witnessing something that is greatness,” Israelite said.

Gorley was honored with a performance of “Rumor” from Lee Brice.

Lindsey was honored with a hair-raising rendition of “Girl Crush,” performed by Brittney Spencer.

During the event, Israelite officially launched the Gold & Platinum (G&P) Club. The Club encompasses all songwriters who have achieved Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum certifications. Israelite also announced that the Club’s Co-Chairs are Rose and Ryan Tedder.

Israelite said, “The NMPA Gold & Platinum Program is the most definitive measurement of a song’s success. We are thrilled with the growth of the Gala and the opportunity to recognize the most elite songwriters in Nashville. The unprecedented number of honorees at this year’s event demonstrates the expansion and dominance of country music.
